The IT group at this global supply chain services company used strength-based talent-management programs to move beyond technical expertise and focus on innovation. The Talent Dynamics program included next-generation skill development; discovering and using each individual's natural strengths; mentoring; building well-rounded project teams; and using crowdsourcing to tap talents in various parts of the company for business growth. By increasing employee engagement, Celestica's IT organization was able to deliver major transformation programs -- such as a global ERP upgrade, a repair service management system and a supply chain "control tower" -- while increasing spending on innovation by 10 percent, reducing the total IT budget by 12 percent, and retaining all "high potential" talent.
