2015 Winner Profile

City of Philadelphia

Project Description:
The city's Office of Innovation and Technology has redefined civic technology by developing and linking its open data work with an equally robust focus on digital access and inclusion for underserved communities. A new portal for open data (with more than 155 data sets) makes government more transparent, while digital inclusion is encouraged by Keyspots, a citywide network of more than 50 technology-enabled community centers that provide computer and Internet access in Philadelphia's least-connected neighborhoods. Integrating these two frequently separate initiatives creates the potential for unique civic applications, such as myPhillyRising.com, Philadelphia Property Search, a property tax calculator, and a suite of mapping applications that visually portray critical data sets such as flu shot locations.
