Project Description:
Wells Fargo developed a biometrics solution that simplifies the authentication experience for customers, allowing them to choose how they gain access to their mobile banking services. Face + Voice and Eyeprint which combine facial and voice recognition technology, and the unique pattern of blood vessels in the eye, respectively use the camera and microphone in a smartphone to authenticate a user via a facial scan and voice analyses. Both models check for liveliness to ensure the user is actually present, which makes the authentication difficult to bypass. Combining the two authentication methods increases the accuracy of authentication to 99.5 percent, according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The program is expected to launch this year.
