2016 Winner Profile

Verizon Wireless

Project Description:
Mobile data usage upwards of 250 billion records per days created unprecedented big data challenges at Verizon Wireless. To manage this data, and to provide more employees with access to it, the company sought a low-cost, powerful and secure storage solution that prioritized widespread enterprise adoption, data discovery and analysis at scale. To facilitate this, the company extended its enterprise data warehouse to a unified data architecture with big data technologies, including a Hadoop data lake, data discovery platforms and data visualization tools. This enabled data to drive its Verizon Lean Six Sigma program, reduce churn, improve customer satisfaction and lower business costs leading to tens of millions of dollars saved in data storage and processing costs.
