Project Description:
The Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals initiated several new clinical performance improvement projects across the organization. To assist their more than 5k patients each month, Jefferson's Information Services & Technology (IS&T) team set out to lower the number of patients that left the hospital's Emergency Department (ED) without being seen (LWBS) by a doctor. IS&T developed an analytic-based solution that allows hospital staff to easily access targeted data and better manage the patient flow with the ED. By providing the staff with the new patient dashboard they can now view real time, actionable information on patients and clinicians at multiple points during the patient's arrival to the ED and through their departure. In just the first two weeks, Jefferson's cross-functional clinical, operational and IT team has re-engineered processes by enriching them with real time data visibility through a user-friendly dashboard and improving the LWBS by 75 percent.
