2016 Winner Profile

The University of Mississippi Medical Center

Project Description:
The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), in partnership with predictive analytics healthcare company Jvion, developed a solution that integrates predictive results into its electronic health record to anticipate which of its patients are likely to have a heart attack within a year. The application uses machine learning, statistical modeling and data from millions of de-identified patient records, socioeconomic information, and geographic, census and clinical transaction data to derive data clusters that deliver heart attack predictions. The identification of this population will allow UMMC to explore the most effective interventions to improve health outcomes for this patient population.
