2016 Winner Profile

Symantec Corporation

Project Description:
In October 2014, Symantec announced its plan to separate the company into two independent publicly traded companies: one business focused on security (Symantec) and one business focused on information management (Veritas). With a firm target completion date of October 1, 2015, the project kicked-off on November 13, 2014 leaving just 11 months to complete all the necessary requirements to turn the single company into two newly formed separate business entities. Faced with migrating more than 7000 associates, located over 62 sites and across 21 countries, and essentially replicating the parent company's IT environment and related business processes for the new $2.3B Veritas business, which also included over 1 million of its own unique customers. By implementing a well thought out strategy, Symantec was able to cutover all IT applications successfully by the scheduled operational readiness date of October 1, 2015, and Veritas successfully began operating as a separate legal entity on January 29, 2016.
