2016 Winner Profile

Navistar International Corporation

Project Description:
Navistar's OnCommand Connection (OCC) is a remote diagnostic system that collects vehicle performance data through any integrated telematics solution. OCC uses an open architecture strategy, which gives operators added ability to improve their fleets' performance. For example, when a fault code is triggered, operators have the information necessary to decide when to service their vehicle. Health reports offer a composite view of the present condition of each vehicle and provide historical data to identify trends, and Fault Code Action Plans explain the meaning of each diagnostic trouble code. The OCC also uses online and mobile apps, and GPS-enabled mapping to display the location of vehicles in real-time. As a result, one OCC customer saw a 28 percent reduction in down days and a 31 percent reduction in repairs. Another eliminated breakdowns during most weeks reducing maintenance costs to 3 to 4 cents per mile, well below the industry average of 15 cents per mile.
