2016 Winner Profile

Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget

Project Description:
In 2012, the DTMB, in partnership with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), launched an important initiative to improve the operation of state government in reducing paper dependency. The state run and managed proposition included a new enterprise electronic document management process where documents are received at a local or central location, and indexed into Bridges to allow the documents to be viewed electronically. The DTMB and the DHHS also partnered with IBM, Pyramid Solutions and Ricoh on developing this enterprise solution. The newly engineered shared proposition has now eliminated the need for paper case files by providing all of necessary documents, including applications, verifications and vital statistics online and all contained under one Electronic Case File also known as ECF.
