2016 Winner Profile

Miami-Dade County Information Technology Department

Project Description:
The Miami-Dade County's paper-based method for processing arrests presented officials with a number of problems, including data integrity issues and multiple data entry instances, while prolonging law enforcement officers' time at correctional facilities. The Information Technology Department collaborated with other County departments to fully automate the process, making arrest information immediately available at County correctional facilities prior to law enforcement's arrival with the arrestees. Called the A Form solution, it stores the information in a centralized repository, validates data entries prior to submission, enables law enforcement to generate statistical information by geographical areas and other search criteria, and eliminated paper affidavits.
