The Epic-accredited Mercy Technology Services, which provides and manages IT solutions for Mercy, the seventh-largest Catholic health system implements, was an early adopter of electronic health records, optimizing Epic for faster data entry, better work flow patterns and to improve ease of use for nurses, physicians and clinical staff. After receiving a number of calls from providers asking them to share lessons learned for their EHR success, it decided to bring its services to market. Today, Mercy Technology Services implements, hosts and supports the EHR, as well as provides analytics using data from Epic, claims and other sources to help clients enhance patient care and make performance-improving business decisions. By commercializing its technology services, Mercy Technology Services exceeded its commercial revenue goal by $7M and grew its client base by 75 percent in one year.
