Project Description:
In November 2015, the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) opened a new six-story inpatient tower located at the Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion, Ill. The CTCA set out to redefine the patient experience by providing the new six-story, state-of-the-art building, which would provide 72 private inpatient rooms, shell space for 48 guest quarters, a dining room, demonstration kitchen, outdoor courtyard and, most importantly, a cutting-edge IT infrastructure capable of enhancing the patient experience and creating a place of healing and hope for patients and caregivers. To accomplish this the CTCA IT staff conducted extensive interviews of both the patients and the clinicians every step of the way of the project. Through proper planning and construction CTCA IT team was able to design the best possible network and solutions to offer the patients remarkable and previously unseen healthcare experience. It has increased the outpatient pharmacy revenue by over 29 percent for bedside medication while increasing patient safety and satisfaction for both employees and patients.
