2017 Winner Profile

Siemens AG

Project Description:
Siemens AG's Global Services Information Technology division started the IEC (integrate, enable, collaborate) IT architecture analysis project to standardize and harmonize the R&D IT landscape and speed up R&D processes for Siemens. It has become the biggest IT development program with many business process transformation aspects in the area of product lifecycle management (PLM) within Siemens. The objective of the project was to improve time-to-market for product development of Siemens R&D units by using its own software products as the digital backbone to implement global standards, improve collaboration and increase process speed and transparency. Depending on the product and the lifecycle phase, Siemens businesses achieve lead times that are between 10 percent to 50 percent faster than before IEC. The result of the program was the standardization and harmonization of PLM processes to a template approach, which can be re-used by additional units. This leads to faster implementation and reduces the time-to-market for IT projects in the R&D area.
