Project Description:
One of the most impactful initiatives in 2016 for Tractor Supply Company was growing the strategically important omnichannel business by launching "Buy Online Pickup in Store" (BOPIS) across 700 Tractor Supply stores. BOPIS lets Tractor Supply customers purchase items from TractorSupply.com and pick up them up at nearby brick and mortar locations. Customers avoid shipping and online delivery charges for items designated as "free in store pick up" on the website. The BOPIS project began and was successfully implemented in 2016. Some of the benefits and business purposes of BOPIS include: reduction in shipping costs; drives customers to stores, which is incremental in store purchases; leverages digital channel to improve convenience for customers; ensures inventory availability before customers head to the stores; real time inventory visibility on the web and in the stores; and allows for others to pick up orders on customers' behalf. BOPIS also improved customer satisfaction scores through improved inventory and availability and reduced freight charges by eliminating the need to ship from distribution centers to the stores.
