2017 Winner Profile

Project Description:
"You can't start a fire without a spark." These words from Bruce Springsteen were the inspiration behind TransUnion's transformation and the creation of Project Spark. Project Spark was a company-wide IT project leveraging significant investments in next generation analytics and technologies to enable a complete overhaul of the company's technology platform while establishing a new, more cost-effective and efficient operating model. This IT initiative played a critical role in facilitating TransUnion's transformation from the third largest credit bureau to a leading, global intelligent analytics and insights organization that enables businesses and consumers to make better decisions and, ultimately, fuels thriving economies. Spark has already delivered significant cost savings — tens of millions of dollars as of Q4 2016. Spark has enabled TransUnion to operate a 30 percent larger business with technology costs down 20 percent to 25 percent and has dramatically improved capabilities. Spark has made technology a competitive advantage and allowed the company to handle complex, new and custom-tailored requests with speed and flexibility.
