2018 Winner Profile
Arizona Department of Child Safety
- Project Description:
- The Arizona Department of Child Safety (AZDCS) has implemented a mobile solution that extends its child welfare information system (CHILDS) and delivers real-time data directly into the field to workers' tablet devices. AZDCS took an innovative approach to digital transformation by deploying a "mobile-first" strategy, allowing over 1,000 caseworkers to adopt current mobile technology into their practices and access real-time data and information in the field, despite the limitations of CHILDS. Enabled by a cloud-based platform that is secure, robust, scalable and reliable, the mobile system gives caseworkers access to agency systems anytime and anywhere. The system provides mobile applications for both case management and investigations and is accessible even when there's no Internet connection. The system will save the department about $18.7 million annually and improve the efficiency of caseworkers by 20 percent, as measured by time savings.
