2018 Winner Profile

Korea Electric Power Corporation, KEPCO

Project Description:
To better support its business, Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) had to effectively connect various legacy systems and new business platforms to enable big data analysis, artificial intelligence and machine learning. In addition, since each of the company's departments developed their own Internet-of-the Things technology for collecting sensor data in onsite electric power facilities, it was difficult to invest in the technology effectively and ensure interoperability. So KEPCO developed a unified platform to integrate with various systems, such as power-grid operating systems, management support systems, customer management systems and new energy business systems, including renewable energy, big data and artificial intelligence. Through the HUB-PoP (Hyper Ubiquitous Bridge - Platform of Platform) the company has derived integrated services, such as efficient asset management, saved money and created new customer service initiatives. The platform can also be used in conjunction with other industries to develop new business models, such as marketplaces.
