United States Cold Storage (USCS) aims to be the leader in providing highly reliable and cost-effective logistics products to the frozen and refrigerated food industry, giving its customers the competitive edge they need to succeed in the ever-changing business environment. As such, USCS is moving toward a self-service data analytics strategy to enhance the customer experience, accelerate business decision making with real-time intelligence and improve key performance indicators to generate revenue and savings. The goal of the strategy is to transform the operations for developing data analytics, reports and visualizations from IT to citizen data scientists for optimal delivery. The main goal of the project is to implement this strategy while improving the customer experience to generate revenue. Customers are provided with real-time operational insights, further enhancing their own decision-making processes and USCS experience. Without the implementation of this self-service data analytics strategy, USCS would have spent more than $3.5 million on labor for reporting in the next five years. With this new strategy, USCS will be spending $1.3 million for software and labor, saving at least $2.2 million by 2021.
