The Data to Value program focused on applying AI for three sales and marketing use cases: Pricing optimization, propensity modeling (identifying the prospects who would buy products at the highest volumes), and commodity price forecasting. To implement these, the company relied heavily on data engineering and open-source products, along with cloud-based storage. On the pricing optimization front, the project was on target to deliver a significant return in margin expansion. Other results include improved sales-close rates by 8% on new business opportunities, and an improved forecast error rate by 4%. The company also expects better pricing and inventory management because of better forecasting.
