2019 Winner Profile

Project Description:
Raytheon developed a secure, cloud-based virtual innovation environment that allows employees to experiment and invent using new technologies not yet compliant with industry standards. The use of new security controls and operating processes allows innovators to use realistic scenarios and data to evaluate the effectiveness of their inventions. All employees have access to the new environment from their desktop computers. Before this, experimenting with new technologies was either not allowed or was controlled through a long approval process that severely limited access to the technology. Most experimentation was done offsite or through vendors and subcontractors. The new environment has resulted in more innovation ideas reaching fruition, more quickly, along with a cultural change in employees' enthusiasm for innovation.
